i'm currently working full-time as a concept artist, transitioning
into the role of ui (user interface) artist for zenimax media in hunt
valley maryland. i'm rooming with a co-worker in new freedom, pennsylvania.
he's the lead character artist at the place i work. it's great having
a creative roommate. he's going to help me up my modeling/zbrush skills.
i've worked on a zillion different games, all of which i'm pretty
proud of (i'll share a list here once i track down my old resume).
i'm very excited about the work i've been doing on my most recent
project at work, which sadly won't be announced for a few years, meaning
i can't show it off for a long long time.
i've been an artist/illustrator on many rpg games in the past as
well, notably wizards of the coast, producing art for some of their
players handbooks and monthly magazines. i even got to do one of the
covers of dragon magazine. w00t!
recently (well, about a year ago as of this date, feb 1, 2009) i
illustrated a 5 page story my friend jeff carroll wrote as part of
a huge anthology. a 12" x 12" 480 page monstrosity called
comic book tattoo. the subject/theme is based on a discography of
tori amos. each creator chooses a song and writes and/or illustrates
a story inspired by that song (not a literal interpretation, mind
you). jeffs words, my art & lettering.
i'm persuing furthering my traditional skills by taking oil painting
classes, and am happily surprised at the level of excitement i'm experiencing
as i revisit this media i've been living in fear of for my entire
life. i'm pumped to see what i can do with it. my goal is to produce
art that i'd want hanging on my walls. i hope to one day line the
walls of prestigious galleries with my paintings... let's hope i pull
it off. :)
i'm learning the guitar... kind of. i haven't gotten back to it after
8 months of lessons. i'm writing songs here and there, and have just
tried out as a singer for a band. we'll see how that goes.
i have a daughter who lives way far away from me in utah. she's wonderful.
she'll be turning 15 on march 2nd of this year (that'd be a month
away). nutty. she'll be here for her birthday. :)
