Welcome to Mike's Pencil Do me a favor:
DON'T FLY UNITED AIRLINES!! THEY ARE HORRIBLE! Go to the contacts page and send me an email if you'd like
to hear my story.
They just cost me $372 in fees for a flight that I booked for $270! That's right: I ended up paying $642 for a round trip flight
totalling 2.5 hours of flight.
United made the mistake. I paid. No refunds. I hate mucking up my site with this crap but the best I can do
to levy my rage is warn others.
Don't fly United. I'll feel much better about the experience if they
suffer a boycott to any degree on my account.
You'd think they'd practice good business ethics in our times. Nope.

I'll be signing at the NYCC
for Tori Amos' Comic
Book Tattoo. I illustrated the story my friend Jeff Carroll
wrote: "Toast," inspired by the song of the same title.
It's a monstrous book. 12" x 12" and 480 pages! My good
friend Rantz
Hosely was the editor. It's been a great success so far. Signing
times will be:
Friday Feb 6, 2-3 pm
Saturday, Feb 7, 4-5 pm
Sun, Feb 8, 11-12 pm
I will most likely be at the Saturday signing. It will be at the Image
booth.

So I think I will be gutting my site soon. I'm going
to streamline it so only my least-crappy stuff will be
showing. Heaven forbid! I should say I will be
showing only the best stuff, so it's a
proper portfolio site -not an image dump of every
atrocity I've slung over the past several years.
There's a lot here I'll be glad
to hide, so fair warning... dun dun DUnnnnNNN!
I'll most likely be using lightbox 2, which is a simple,
snazzy navigation applet that's free, and super
easy to navigate. All good things.
The better news is that I'll be actually updating my
site with new content. I can't say I've done a lot of
personal work in the past year or two, but I do
have a handful of show-offable pieces.
I'm proud to say that I signed up for an oil painting
class. About time I got my act together in that
realm of creativity. Once a week I'll be going to Zoll Studio
to learn the methods of mastering painting,
beginning with still life. I'll also be going to weekly
figure drawing sessions there. I'm pumped to ramp
up my traditional skills, which are more than behind
where they should be. I see where my peers are
and it makes me sick to my stomach. Envy for teh
win!
